NASA will performing some new Research And Technology Studies out in the desert in Arizona. One September the fifteenth, such sights as the Tri-ATHLETE – a six legged heavy lifting machine (HG Wells will not be happy if it turns out it was us sending them to Mars…), which will be lifting around a mock Lunar habitat, the portable utility package and the Lunar Exploration Rover, in which two scientists will be spending a fortnight carrying out mock Moonwalks and sample collections will be available for viewing by interested reporters.

Members of the media wishing to attend should click here to get further details and supply their credentials. Members of the public interested in these Lunar Analogs should direct themselves to the test pages, or to the photo albums on Flickr or even to video on Youtube. RATS also blogs, twitters and has a facebook fan page.

So with a War of the Worlds squat heavy lifting machine arriving at Desert RATS, the only question is who’s the Richard Burton fan at NASA?
