Juno reaches opposition

The asteroid (and at one time planet) Juno will be reaching opposition on the 21st of September, glowing at the brightest it will be until 2018. Presently located near Uranus, the asteroid will be visible to binocular observers. Observations on consecutive nights should show the asteroid’s path through the night sky, heading south west.

Juno will be shining at a magnitude of 7.6, lying 180 million kilometres from us.
