Galaxy Zoo is a well known citizen science project that allows the general public access to data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. So far, the public have been used to classify galaxies in two generations of the main project and to identify supernova outbursts in a strip of the sky imaged several times by the survey.
Now the next generation of the website is ready for testing. Galaxy Zoo mergers allows users to run simulations of galaxy merger events and to pick the one that best describes the actual merged galaxy on the screen. Beta testers should head here to see what the fuss is about.
