The Hubble UltraDeep Field in 3D

A video I just picked off Derren Brown’s blog. After getting the image of the Hubble UltraDeep Field and measuring the line of sight distances to each galaxy via their redshift, the researchers used the distances to create a 3D map, as shown in the video below (yeah, I know, Hubble isn’t the most ‘powerful’ telescope out there, depending on how you use the word ‘powerful’ and the HUDF isn’t close to being the furthest ever seen, as GRBs and active galaxies will point out, but enjoy the pictures):
