Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition open

The 2010 edition of the Royal Greenwich Observatory’s Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition, run in collaboration with the Sky at Night Magazine and ‘powered’ by Flickr, the photo-sharing website, is open for business. There’s a number of categories and prizes:

  • Overall Winner – £1,000
  • Earth and Space – £250, £100, £50
  • Our Solar System – £250, £100, £50
  • Deep Space – £250, £100, £50
  • People and space – £250
  • Best newcomer – £250
  • Young (<16) Astronomy Photographer of the Year – £250, £100, £50

Entries are to be received by the 16th of July. All winners also receive a one year subscription to the Sky at Night Magazine. Winners will be announced on the 10th of September and will receive their prizes 6-8 weeks after this time. The competition is free to enter.
