Bits and bobs from Astronomy Now

The UK space magazine Astronomy Now has been putting out a few things today in advance of the next edition of the publication on Thursday. Firstly, there is a preview of that edition on facebook. Next, there is a series of youtube videos acting as a guide to observing the one star we hope to see during these long June days – the Sun. I should mention that I’ve just spotted myself in one of the videos. In this one below, there’s a photograph shown of astronomers in Hyde Park watching a partial solar eclipse. I’m the one in the white top and black jeans looking down at the view of a projected solar disc:

That’s one of the how to’s for amateurs, but what about ‘real’ astronomers? Solar research at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory is the focus of this interview:
